Welcoming the Groundhog and Movie Night
The festivities kick off on February 1st with the Welcoming of the Groundhog, followed by Groundhog Day Trivia and a special showing of the iconic film "Groundhog Day" at Classic Cinemas. This evening sets the stage for the enchanting weekend that lies ahead.
The Official Groundhog Day Prognostication
On Friday, February 2nd, the Woodstock Square transforms into Gobbler’s Knob, as visitors gather for the official Groundhog Day Prognostication at 7 AM. Amidst polka music, news stations from around the country, and a diverse crowd of international visitors, Woodstock Willie, the beloved groundhog, will make their highly anticipated weather prediction. Following the prognostication, revelers can head to The Woodstock Public House to "Drink to World Peace" with a shot of Sweet Vermouth with a twist.
A Day Filled with Festivities
The day continues with the "Official" Groundhog Day Breakfast at the Woodstock Moose Lodge, offering a unique opportunity to dine with Woodstock Willie. Guided walking tours of filming sites, additional screenings of "Groundhog Day" at Classic Cinemas, the Groundhog Day Dinner Dance, and Cocktails with Willie ensure a day packed with excitement and entertainment.
Weekend Extravaganza
The weekend unfolds with a variety of activities, including a Groundhog Day Bags Tournament, Bingo, Pub Crawl, and Pancake Breakfast. Multiple opportunities to catch screenings of "Groundhog Day" and tour the movie sites provide an immersive experience for both enthusiasts and first-timers.
Special Guest: Tom Skilling Joins the Celebration
Adding to the excitement, everyone's favorite Chicago Weatherman, Tom Skilling, will be joining in the festivities on February 2nd at the official Groundhog Day Prognostication, bringing his weather expertise and charm to Woodstock Groundhog Days 2024.
