Every February, Groundhog Day revelers from around the world visit Woodstock, Illinois to watch a rodent predict the weather for the coming weeks. This may sound crazy to some, but if you've seen the 90's classic Groundhog Day featuring Bill Murray, you know what we're talking about. The film is based on the annual event hosted in Punxsatawney, Pennsylvania, but if you make the treck to Pensylvania you will find that it looks nothing like the movie. That is because the entire film was shot right here in McHenry County, Illinois. And we are PROUD of that!
This year's festivities celebrate the 30th anniversary of the filming of Groundhog Day the movie.That's right the 30th anniversary falls on 2-2-22. So that means we are in for a big celebration.
