Sunflowers are synonymous with summer, especially in the Chicagoland area. These summer blooms are always guaranteed to brighten anyone’s day, and that’s why our summer isn’t complete without a visit to a sunflower field. Thankfully the McHenry County area is home to many options, and Tom’s Sunflower Maze is one you shouldn’t miss. In fact, here are reasons why you should visit Tom’s Sunflower Maze. But hurry – make plans to visit before the season ends!
OUR EXPERIENCE AT TOM’S FARM SUNFLOWER MAZE
ADMIRE THE BEAUTY
The kids were more than happy to guide us through the 4-acre maze. (And we didn’t get lost!) The highlight, of course, was seeing different kinds of sunflowers up close. We even spotted a few bees at work!
PLENTY OF PHOTO OPS
At every turn, we found fun photo props. My favorite was this pink tandem bicycle. The kids no doubt was the swing.
CUT YOUR OWN SUNFLOWER….OR FLOWER
Want a wonderful souvenir? Cut your own sunflower! After the maze, we found the cutting station where we could borrow shears. Stems are $3 each or $15 for 6 stems. The kids had a great time choosing the perfect one – a tough job indeed! If you prefer something other than sunflowers, they have a small cutting field of other pretty summer blooms.
